About Us

GEM is a privately owned company established in 1959 by Ian Sutherland (Owner/Director). Throughout the years GEM has continued to progress and is testament and credit to the resolve of Ian and Janis Sutherland, Directors of GEM.

GEM Group of companies have been market leaders in earthmoving, quarrying and civil construction for over 50 years and has amassed a formidable reservoir of expertise and knowledge. GEM’s workforce today totals 130 experienced personnel and is fully resourced with company owned modern fleet, plant and equipment which is maintained by GEM’s workshop.

From supply to construction GEM can provide the full service for your minor and major projects with the right blend of project management, innovations and value for money. Projects include driveways to highways, subdivisions, wind farms, quarrying activities and general earthmoving services throughout South East of South Australia and South West Victoria.
